Helping people come together to have a good chat over a beer is really at the heart of what we do so it is with a very heavy heart that we will be changing how we operate at the Hook. From today onwards we will only be selling products to take away and will only accept contactless payments.
Our opening hours will be reduced from 6pm-9pm Wednesday - Thursday and 4pm-8pm Fri -Sunday. We will also be closing off most of the pub and only allowing two customers at a time into the premises. There will be no printed menus or tasters offered so we ask you to look at our online menus to help you make a choice before you come.
We also ask that anyone who is feeling unwell or in an at risk group to please not come to the pub. For those in this group we will attempt to offer a delivery service within the Bitterne Park area from tomorrow as long as we are not totally overrun. Just send us a your order through our contact form on our website before 4pm and we will send over payment details and confirm an estimated delivery time.
We are hoping that by next week we can start to move most of our sales to online and to provide options for delivery and collection. While this is our current plan there are a fair few technical things to get over and as things are moving so quickly things may change so please our social media for further announcements.
Please know we have not taken these decisions lightly and that our priority is to help stop the spread of COVID-19 and keep our staff and customers safe. We know that this change is going to mean that in the short term many of the most important aspects of our pub are going to be lost. We are putting our thinking hats on though to see what we can do to put the social back into social isolation and welcome any suggestions.
This will be a difficult time for all of us and the current situation poses a particular challenge within our industry. We rely on you to drink beer to pay our staff and to pay the breweries who made your beer so that they can pay their staff and also their suppliers. We know it's going to be harder for you to keep that first link in the chain going but your continued support in these difficult times is very much appreciated by all involved.
